Probably a stupid question, but... (carb sync)
« on: July 30, 2012, 09:00:49 PM »
I have to ask it anyway.

Do I need to sync the carbs if I'm ONLY changing the main jet. The idle jets, needle position, and a/f screws will not be changed, and I won't be de-racking the carbs.

I just synced them today, but I KNOW my main jet is one size too large.

I want to say the answer is no, but I thought I'd ask just to be certain.

As long as you are just dropping the float bowels, you are doing nothing to effect the sync-so "no"

No. Syncing adjusts the heights of the slides.

From my experience yes if you change the needle clip position, at least thats the way the PD's on my 77 cb750 are.

EDIT: my bad, I just realized you arent touching anything but the main jet.

Thanks guys. I didn't think so, but wanted to double check. Lucky, I got that hesitation taken care of. My points were WAY out of spec. Just gotta change out that main jet and I think I should be golden. I'll let you know tomorrow.
