cycle x complete triple tree in a cb550k..does it work?
« on: July 29, 2012, 12:22:49 PM »
I am thinking of buying the Cycle X complete triple tree for my cb550k.  Do you know if this will fit? I read somewhere that the offset on a 750 might be different but it wasnt confirmed. If it does fit and the offset is different,  does that mean I have to buy a 750 front end as well?

You need to ask Cycle-x before you make you purchase.

I asked Cycle X but they would not admit to their triple tree working on anything but a cb750... I was just reading somewhere that the 750 and 550 use the same tree.

The 750s to 76 in the Kmodel had more offset (frontwards). I think the 550 has more down offset than a 750 on top tree, meaning that your fork slightly shortens. Tubes will fit, but stem is probably longer on the 750, meaning a spacer somewhere.. should work with slight change in handling, and stock headlight ears cant be used. IF you are constantly hard cornering and worried  about maximun handling dont do it.

Would I do it if it were mine?..most likely..
