KZ400: replace seals without splitting cases?
« on: July 27, 2012, 10:10:07 PM »
I picked up a replacement motor for my '76 KZ400 for $75 and plan to run it while I rebuild the top end of my other motor. After figuring out that I had the points cam on 180 degrees off (thanks @Spanner1) it fired right up. I have an oil leak from under the sprocket cover, which is either the clutch rod seal, the drive shaft seal or the shifter seal. I think it's the clutch rod seal though. Can I replace it without splitting the cases? And if so, how do I get it out?
If it's worth doing, it's worth doing twice.
