Marving Exhaust on CB350F
« on: August 01, 2012, 05:10:40 AM »
Gentlemen:

I have just started to ride my Honda CB350F after a slow 2 y bit by bit restoration.  It came with a Marving 4 into 1 exhaust, and it seems to run well with a nice push at high revs and mellow burble a low speeds.

There is a very small muffler at the end of the exhaust system with interior perferations.

Does anyone have experience with a MArving exhaust on a CB350F or any other SOHC?

I'll try to attach an image.

I'm getting a little more familiar with this Marving 4 into 1 exhaust.

At low speeds it just hums and burbles without to much sound.

Then at about 45 mph the hum gets really loud, and you wouldn't want to pass a police cruiser with this amount of "sound".

At 55 mph it goes quite silent, and it seems to be "on song" with a steady hum and little wail.

Approaching 60 mph it gets noisy this time and the sound seems loud and strong but a bit irregular in timing, like beats or something.

Then at 65 mph she starts to holler with a steady authoritative wail.

I've not been faster than 65 mph, since there is a bit of break-in going on.

More later..............

A better look at the Marving in the attached image.

I gave the system a good high pressure water blast, then hit it with a coarse sanding sponge and dish detergent.  Lot's of rinsing, then sun dried for a day.

Drove a stake into the ground to support it "up the pipe" so that all surfaces could be hit with high temperature black.

Out of context and off the bike, it looks like a damn fine sculpture that some museum would buy for 90 000 $.

$90k?  Well, I like your optimism!  Where did you buy it and how much was it?  Also, any videos with the sound?

Perhaps there is art in a well bent cotter pin.

I've taken a bunch of close ups of the old CB350F

That's what "Crazy Glue" is used for.

Don't know about the 44 gallon drum, but that Crazy glue over here isn't at all like JB Weld, and it usually comes in really small tubes.  (I think that's to discourage blokes from licking the excess ooze.)
