fork seals cb550

Anyone have advice for changing the fork seals on a 1974 cb550? I got a set from All Balls but they seem like they don't fit. I destroyed a seal trying to get it in. The size is the same that Dime City lists for the 550. 35mm x48mm x11mm. Are they supposed to be such a tight fit?

destroyed trying to install it in the fork lower, or trying to get the fork tube through it?

Trying to install in fork lower. I think I found the problem. The previous owner put forks off a 1970 cb750 which has a fork lower of 46mm instead of the stock cb550 size of 48mm.
