Installing oil seat in rear hub of 1976 550 K
« on: August 07, 2012, 01:55:54 PM »
Hi- Can anyone tell me if the oil seal that is pressed into the sprocket side plate on the rear hub of my 550 faces in or out?  Basically, I can't remember which way it was facing when I popped it out.  Seems to me it should have the flat side facing the side collar (facing out), but I'd like to make sure before pressing it in and putting the wheel back together.  any thoughts are appreciated

The "flat" side goes outside. The springy thing in the recessed part shouldn't be "visible" when you're looking at it fully assembled.
