No offense, but black engines aren't exactly different.  Go purple on the ENGINE... that would be different!

... anyways, here's mine:

I have seen many combinations but the cleanest in my opinion is the case, barrels head painted grey or silver with chrome plated covers,, just looks so clean but a black barrel is OK with that. I think black gets harder to clean if riding in rain, and looks bad if it is dirty or faded.
Whatever you do.. do it proper.. looks bad when its peeling..

The color scheme dave posted is probably the cleanest, and is the most popular, way to do it. The black barrels really set off the silver without being too flashy. And it makes the shiny side bits "pop" more, having a duller background to go off of.

With that said, I think blue engines are the bees knees.

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I like the crinkle paint on the valve cover, terry. Crinkle doesn't do anything to alter the heat properties, right (good or bad)?

you have some totally clean engines there terry, excellent examples,,how do you do it?and to L3niin,,its scheme,,terry hadnt noticed yet?
i built a 351 windsor for a mate in the early 90s terry,it was in an xy fairmont wagon,,you could hardly push this car but the engine made it feel light,,it went well,,i like the early fords,,xr to xy,,i like the engines as well,,the xr could do with dual circuit brakes though!the windsors need the rocker studs pinned aswell every time.

G'Day Mate, thanks for that, I've got a vague memory that wrinkle paint actually helps cool whatever it's painted on, increases the surface area?

The engine on the stand in the first couple of pics was a new build Dave, hence the cleanliness, the engine in the gold bike was much the same, and the PO had all the covers nickel plated, which was cool. I'm trying to decide whether I'll get all my finned covers nickle plated or chromed in the next couple of weeks, I suppose price will be a major factor in my decision, I've got a lot to do, ha ha!

I've had to lay off the spelling and grammar policing, as a result of the death threats. As poorly spelled as they were, I still understood their intent. I'm a Cleveland fan, I've never had one I didn't like, but the 4V Clevo in my XY was a powerhouse, and it was so much fun to drive, it's the only car I'd really love to have back again. Cheers, Terry. ;D

We didn't miss out completely on the air pumps, some of the gemmies and early dunnydoors had them, I actually have one out of a crappadore in the shed, somewhere.

It depends where you live too mate, my Triumph Rocket III doesn't have a Catalytic converter, but the US models do. I don't know if the Oz - bound Harleys come with Cats, I'm guessing that if they do, they'd get changed out pretty quickly anyway. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Is that first cat photoshopped? It's massive.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.
