allballz problems
« on: August 03, 2012, 08:10:21 AM »
i ordered a set of tapered bearings a while back i finally got around to puting them on the K4 and they  do not fit the outer race on the lower bearing isnt any where near going together the inner diameter on the lower doesnt seem to fit the neck either with out a serious pressing... the top race is just the opposite its slips on and off with ease and seems too thick for the seated area... the part numbers are 32005X- 26 and 32006X

any suggestions? were they different for the K8?

Not sure what those part numbers you list reference but this is the bearing kit I used on my '78 750K without problems:

I just put the 22-1011 on my K8.  I did have to pound the lower bearing onto the stem.  To fit the races in the neck I placed them in the freezer to give them a little extra clearance and them put them in the next and drove them home with a block of wood and a drift.  A long piece of PVC pipe like in Lippy's picture helps greatly for getting the lower bearing on the stem

Try a cross reference for the OEM bearings for 74 and 78 see if they are the same if they are then the allballs should be the same also.

You never said what Allballz kit you are trying to use. If it's a 22-1011 then it has the wrong bearings in the kit.
If it's some other part number you have the wrong kit.

That same kit works for all the 750's.
