Hey ,

It's Saturday morning , 9:00am Central Standard Time , and I ma stuck here at work

Not a big deal, as I only ave to work one Saturday a month, but I walked in my fornt door at 5:00am this morning , and had to be here at 7 !!! Rough night to say the least, but atleast I didnt burn off my sideburns (long story

)

Anyways, I have some time on my hands today (no-one buys trucks on Saturdays), so I figure I would start a Tattoo thread.

If you gots em, and wanna show em, post em...

I've been considering getting a tat or two. I'm just nervous as hell. I mean, I know the perception of tattoos has changed from my parent's generation, but I can't get over the paranoia of what it will look like in 40-50 years. I see old guys with tattoos and the ink doesn't look good way down the road.

Is that a concern for those that have them or have ink and application technologies gotten better to where the art will hold up better over time? I mean the guys I've seen, the colors fade and run together, and it eventually turns into a grayish blob.

I have a few older friends in their 50's who got tatted when they were 18. Some of their tat's look good (for their age) , and others don't. One thing to remember is that the more detail their is, the more chance of the tat looking like crap as you get older, as when the skin gets looser (with age) , the tat will get distorted and look like ass.
EXAMPLE--> My tattoo I have is fairly simple, and should (I stress should) remain looking fairly the same as I get older, compared to a guy with a complicated design tattoo, with lots of detail and fine lines. His is more likely to look like crap as the years go on.

Who gives a #$%* what it looks like when you are 80.... take a close look at what the rest of an 80 year old persons body looks like.... Anyways, when I'm 80, I don't plan on being able to remember that I ever had any tattoos anyways...lol

the quality of the ink also has a good deal to do with it...you should research your ink and know what questions to ask when you go in to interview the artist.

ink technology has improved drastically in the last 40 years - just like motorcycle technology...

a reputable tatoo artist will know the difference and be able to have an intelligent conversation with you about it...however, if you go to a shifty ex-biker named (i kid you not) "Squinch" in Madison, MS don't expect a great deal...ask me how I know...

This is one yet to be done. Just drew it up the other day. Working on the 1 month time frame to get it. I dream one up and wait one month. If I am still thinking of it then it gets done. I might add I have no tattoos to this date. Yes, I know......that is a LOT of ink on the black.

The guy went thru 1 entire bottle of black ink on my leg, over
three different sessions to get it all filled...

Has anybody seen the excellerated aging video of a tatto on a womans lower back? Pretty gross...I heard a commedian on say that she thought plastic surgery was the carreer of the future... in 30 years you could make a good living just removing Barbed wire Tattoos from 80 year old womens arms!
