Calling all Pd carb experts!!
« on: August 05, 2012, 06:41:43 PM »
Calling all PD carb experts I have a question.

On my set of carbs the very tiny check ball in the accel pump circuit keeps getting stuck, causing it to either work poorly or not at all.  I have had them a part several times and had the check valve open, the chome coating on the check ball has worn off probably from sitting with old gas in them, so it doesn't move as freely as it used to.  My question is, is there anything I can do to the check ball to help it move easier and not get stuck?  Or does anyone know the size of the check ball, I have some industrial supply links so I might be able to find a replacement.

As always any information is greatly appreciated.

It could be the seat too.
I would buy a new bottom plate with a new check ball and spring. After all it is 33 years old now.
The price is lower lately. Still not cheap though.

There are two of those check balls. The one in the bottom plate is usually at fault.
The check ball in the top edge of the float bowl is important too.
Make sure you can only blow through it one direction.
