Looks like our target dates have slipped, but this may work to our advantage. Sam Green has established the SGMP in Valdosta, GA, November 9th/11th for the home coming of GZ 1.0!

http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=113423.0

I'm hoping we can make the handoff in Valdosta on this weekend in November and make the homecoming a reunion too! Sure would like to meet Sam, I'll likely be there whether we can get GZ 2.0 there or not. This should provide plenty of time to pick up MD, (NJ?), DE, NC, and SC. This pushes dates pretty late if we are going to continue this relay overseas, but the reunion opportunity sounds too good to pass up.

What say ye-all?

How would a guy get to Valdosta from Colorado 'reasonably'?  COS or DEN are departure cities.

Not sure what you mean Jerry. With or with out a bike? Driving or shipping the bike?

I'd love to take the bike but I do not wish to make SamAuto look bad  ;) I'd have time to get the clutch sorted out though. Driving is probably ~1600 miles+/-. Talking about flying. Connections are expensive. Valdosta has an airport. Sister in ATL says flying into Tallahassee would be closer but Bill tells me he's pickup up the White Knight in ATL and heading down. May try to hook up in ATL.

Too damn many posts scattered about. Please see:  Who's going to Valdosta in the 'normal' forum.  ;) Maybe more people will see it and show up  ;D

Sure, I can do Sunday.
Either Saturday or Sunday works for me.  Larry said he was available on Saturday... I'm hoping he's also available on Sunday so we could all meet-up.

What are your travel plans?  I might join you for some of the ride south.

Hey guys, I certainly hope you can get Lefty down south in time for the big races in Valdosta.

Reason - He will be meeting GZ I from Europe, myself, Wilbur and many others from the forum to put a fitting end to some amazing adventures.

I will be in Atlanta 11/2 and heading south from Atlanta Thursday 11/8. I don't know what your plans are in respect to riding with GZ Dos but I'd be glad to accept him in ATL and take him to meet his long lost brother. I'm not riding but he could ride SamAuto down. Kinda like that movie, Airplane maybe?, where Slim Pickens rides a nuclear bomb only this would be better!

Jerry, since you're going to be in ATL for a while, we should meet each other, maybe along with a few other forum members that also live here, Bluto, Rocker and Travi. My son goes to Valdosta State U., so that looks like a great excuse for dear old dad to drop in on his son, on my my CB of course!

I'll be in the Brookhaven area at my sister's place. Maybe we could make a get together work but I'll be on foot. That'd be fun. Tue 11/3 or Wed 11/4 may work as we'll be heading out Th. I doubt my sister would be making any serious plans other than hanging out.

Bringing GZ1 and GZ2 together may not be such a good idea!  Ever read about matter/ anti-matter annihilation? Just be careful, I guess, but if you see a black hole opening up, RUN!!

Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Chris Kickstart set up the handover in Lancaster, PA precisely in Lancaster Brewing Company.  I planned my route like this:

 Nokesville - Leesburg - Frederick - Westminster - Manchaster - York - Lancaster

I left with plenty of time to get there, but my shortcut was slow and I had to stop every so often and check the iphone map.  But it was a great ride and PA is beautiful this time of the year and I typically get lost in PA anyway.  All those towns, it was like a mini UK excursion:)

Got to ride over the old bridge in Columbia too - thats a cool bridge.

To the Lancaster Brewing Company I came late, Chris was already waiting for me.  I grabbed a beer - Hop Hog - quite nice even for my Czech taste buds and we decided to skip food since it was getting late.

Chris rode his beautiful CB750F and since he was going to DC we took 30 West and later 15 South to Frederick for 90 miles long joint ride through York and Gettysburg.  Sunny weather but the air was cold and with sun going down it was getting colder.  In Frederick we filled up, shaked hands and Chris went to 270 South towards DC and I took 15 all the way home.

She performed beautifully all those 8+ hours with stops only for gas and handover, without any problems keeping 80 mph on express ways with some throttle left.

I definitelly need better mirrors and the open face helmet is just clear pain for longer trips, I can see getting a full face in very near future.

Chris has the picture from handover, I took one at Point of Rocks where GZ entered Virginia.  Will post that one later.

Pictures attached.

Yeah, the weather was great for riding... sunny and cool.  But it did get chilly once the sun went down.

While I was waiting at the bar, I got a chance to read through the logbook (I was so busy with work and other stuff I hadn't gotten a chance to do it earlier)... so 70CB750 running late turned out to be a good thing.

Reading those entries was a blast.  I would post some of the highlights I remember reading, but I don't want to spoil it for Madmtnmotors when it's returned to him.   I will say my entry is pretty lame compared to the some of the others.  I'll try to redeem myself next year.

Again, it was great meeting you Prokop... have a safe trip south.

Right on! He's coming back to roost! Have we got a plan/riders to get GZ to Valdosta on 11/9 or 11/10? We're getting close!

I am busy this Saturday but not on Sunday.

I can take Godzilla either west - WV or south - NC.

If there are no riders this Sunday I may visit WV or DC to show him around - and take pictures.

Should Lefty arrive in Atlanta prior to Valdosta races we can let him ride down on SamAuto
