73 CB500 wont shift................STILL.
« on: August 09, 2012, 07:51:14 PM »
Originally wouldnt shift into 1st or 2nd, stuck in neutral. Ordered a shift drum and forks off ebay (used) and installed them with the guide pins that came with them. Put the cases back together and it still wont shift. Stuck in neutral still. Ummmm I don't get it.... I about to throw the engine in the truck and send it to the shop because I'm pretty frustrated. Any help would be great.

Okay so I loosened the nut on the case for the fork drum and it started working. Now I'm wondering if that was the problem all along and I didn't have to order forks and split the cases because there is no spring or ball under that bolt and I think it got tight and wouldn't allow the drum to move. Unreal.. Waste of a week.
