cb350f forks
« on: August 08, 2012, 04:09:44 PM »
This has probably been discussed before but I'm going to bring it up anyway. I have a CB350f that I've bobbed. It looks good but when I started and pulled off the fork ears there was rust and pitting on the forks.

I am open to suggestions on fixing it. If I have to replace the forks, where can I get some nice new/refurbished chrome ones?

Thanks!

if the rust pits don't sweep past the fork seals.. you have nothing to worry about, clean 'em up and reinstall them. If you want a cosmetic fix, fill the pits with JB weld, sand, and paint to taste.

I certainly agree for minor pitting.  No structural worries.  But do get some spacers to make sure that tightening the upper triple clamp won't break the clamp.  Kind of hard to find replacements or weld.

Measure the diameter of the tubes where they go thru the tripple clamp, and start searching the net. I would bet that CL and CB forks from many years will swap right over. IF I was not going to keep my CB350F totally bone stock, I would swap in a set of CL350 forks since they are a bit stiffer and more modern.

There's a guy in the Chicago area you could get replacement tubes from.  I believe it's www.frankmain.qpg.com

You could always pick up a nice set of used 400f forks.  I've upgraded each of the 350f frames I built and was more than happy with the end result for the money.  Tubes were in GREAT shape.
