Yesterday I meet with a powder coater and was unsure if he could do in by the end of August so I am considering another powdercoater or painting the frame myself.

Right now everything is at the blaster and getting ready for paint or powder.  Sorry no pics of sending the parts off.  It was early this morning and I forgot my camera.

Today I will be evaluating an 811 kit I got a while back off from Ebay and seeing if it is usable for this project or not.  Then go from there.  More pics to come..

We'll  I looked over the 811 kit and am not sure that is the right decision for this bike.  Thinking more along the lines of 2nd oversize kit from z1.

Found a mystery cam in the engine today with no marking on it.  Also, the am tower rocker shafts are the kind that rotate like on the earlier 750s.  Pistons, and bores look great.  Wrist pins had some gull marks.

The other interesting thing was a copper head gasket, and the transmission looks good so far with no rounded off dogs.  Cylinders look great with no rust and pistons are in very good condition.

Not sure about the main shaft and counter shaft bearings.

My next challenge is to locate a bearing supply house and find out if they have the ball bearings I need.  I spent yesterday looking over the transmission.  I will probably be working on this for the next day or so as I want to make sure everything is perfect.

I have spent the past couple days trying to get a handle the lower end and specifically bearings.  I made some progress and have located a bearing supply house and will order some new bearings when I can.  Things add up fast and am not quite ready to give up on my original goal, but may need to extend the deadline a bit to do things right.

I feel much better today after getting hooked up with the right people.  I went back to the bearing supply house and talked to an old timer who really knows his stuff and said I can have them tomorrow.

I also got hooked up with a powder coat guy whose got some skills he can do candy, metallic, and translucent.  Showed me a piece he did and it came out great!  I feel much better knowing this part of the project will be taken care of.

Got the cases painted and all the old gasket material scraped away.  This is one part that I don't care for.  Having the right chemical to dissolve the old gasket gunk helps alot.

Still have to figure out what little bits and pieces I need and order them.

We'll thinks have really been an up and down ride so far with highs and lows.  I did manage to get a Gordon frame kit welded in by a pro welder.  It really came out great with the TIG.  This is the absolute best for smooth welds as far as I know.

Sandblasting of parts is complete which is good, and the big bummer of the day is the powder coater wanted 500 bucks after the sandblasting was already done!  I told him I will paint.  Went to order my epoxy primer from consternating and hurricane isaac  is causing them some problems. 

Ok well I will hit up my local paint shop and see if they have any epoxy paint.  Here's the frame and sandblasted parts.  I will get a better picture before I paint.

He said a 2 step process cost more.  $225 for the frame, swing arm, battery box, and tool tray, and the same for the tote of bits and pices.  The only real attraction to powder is that it is sopposed to be more durable than paint ie. chip resistant.  Trying to get powder to look as good as paint is another story.

I think I will hit up the paint store and see if they got the epoxy primer and go from there.  It's gray, and if a chip should occur it won't be that noticable since the top coat is silver.

Got my Kerker ceramic coated and it is looking good!  Was a little nervous, but for something that look pretty junky before it's looking sweet now.

Be careful with that broken triple tree.  According to hondaman they can not be welded.  I picked up a spare and for that reason and that I would sell if you're in a bind.  PM if interested.

Thanks Steve I really like the way this came out, and it sounds as good as it looks.  I don't even might that the PO scuff the chrome now it looks like stainess!  Gives it character.

Going to work on give the frame some sweet paint today if all goes well.  Wish me luck!

So I got the frame and parts primed today which is good since I no longer have to worry about them rusting out.  Used a good quality Epoxy primer from PPG JP375.  Was very happy with how well if flowed much better than the Urethane primer I used before.

1st pic is of the parts hanging after sand blasting getting ready for primer.  The next 3 are the parts primed up waiting for a sealer or base coat.
