'75 CB550 Carb Rebuild Jet Questions
« on: August 13, 2012, 08:27:25 PM »
Ok, I'm about to tear into the carbs on my '75 CB550. Here is the current condition of the bike:
1. MAC 4-1 Exhaust with baffle still installed
2. Stock air filter (new filter installed)
3.  No mods to engine.
4. Everything else is basically stock.

I just ordered and recieved 4 carb rebuild kits. Here is what I recieved:
Main jet - 100
Slow jet - 38
Needle valve - 120 (I think, it is too hard to read, might be 125)
Other items have no markings. I ordered from parts-n-more for a '75 CB550.

Question is: will this work on my current setup? Anyone with similar set up, please advise.

Thanks,

I would expect no carburetion changes from stock with your present configuration.
I don't see why the stock metal components can't be cleaned and reused.  There have been issues in the past where aftermarket metal parts weren't made exactly to spec. and this made the engine run poorly.

Gotta change the rubber bits.  But, unless you have a corrosion issue, you know the stock parts worked before and were made correctly.
