NASTY
« on: August 15, 2012, 08:59:41 AM »
so,went away for the weekend, came back to my garage and the smell was atrocious.I swear a rather large animal died in my garage.I had to put on my respirator just to breathe.I looked in the corner where the bottom half of the 72cb750 motor was and the heat must have did something to the seals/gaskets as whatever oil was left in the bottom case spewed all over as if all the bolts looosened at will.Holy Sh*t was it bad.needless to say I spent the night cleaning it up.Yuck.And i thought hte inside of an old gas tank was bad. ???

Any gasoline smell?  I once had a stuck carb leak fuel into my engine for a week, while out of town, and came out to an enormous puddle of oily gas in the garage.

Oh, I re-read your post and didn't realize the engine was not in a bike!

Be careful about opening 40 year old forks in your kitchen for the same reason.  Dont ask me how I know...

Smelliest stuff on an old mc is the old fork oil.

That 40-year old fork oil was by far the stinkiest thing I've ever smelled. Surprised the EPA didn't come after me. My garage reeked for two weeks afterwards. Whew, that stuff is rank.
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

I sprinkled carpet powder air freshener along with floor sweeper stuff ,that helped but its such a strong smell, especially in the heat.I need a chemical cabinet outside to keep all the toxic sh*t in,tired of my garage smelling like a refinery, not to mention my scarred lungs.

I have dumped Pine Sol over stinky #$%* in the garage, pressure washed it and then swept. Smells good after!
