Air Cleaner Chamber/Air Box Idea 350F
« on: August 16, 2012, 06:01:27 AM »
I've looked around but haven't seen anything on this.  Here is my question/idea.  I'm thinking of a way to to totally redesign the plastic air chamber and airbox for these two reasons.

1. The plastic chamber is a SOB to get off and on while your tuning, and frequently removing/installing your carbs.
2. Find a way to improve the chamber to air cleaner connection. I know my rubber gasket that connects them has taken a beating and I'm sure there are air leaks, no matter how careful I am or how hard i try to get it back on like it should be.  What about a design that bolts together once the chamber is in place ?

if you kept the same volume and airflow (roughly) of the original design, wouldn't this work?  I know the shape of the chamber etc.. plays into the mix as well, but if it was close ???   The airbox would use a stock cleaner, but the snorkle connection could be improved too.

What do you guys think about this, and why or why wouldn't it work, besides the obvious.  I realize it would take some tuning to get it right.
