What do you think about these scratches?

...on the head from a ham-fisted PO. Must have been trying to get the gasket off. Some of them go all the way from the tunnel to the chamber. They're not gouges, but you can feel them with your fingernail. Fixable with decking?

If it's worth doing, it's worth doing twice.

Do you know a speed skater?  I had similar scratches on mine. They pretty much disappeared when I took my diamond stone to it.

A speed skater's diamond stone is a large flat metal bar with diamond dust adhered to one side.
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Nice tip on the skate sharpener............I have one in an old trunk...........regarding decking the head.......2+thousanths should do it.........3 or more can be done but then I would assume you are building a High-Performance motor and other things will also change. The new Cycle-X head gaskets work great.
