The seat is too tall and fat and does not accommodate a small battery in the desired high CG location.

...Or so I've been told.   ;D ;D

Must put batteries up high in seat humps, you know, so the frame won't looks so "cluttered" and otherwise uglified.

What really sucks about these bikes, is all of those weird people at stoplights and gas stations wanting to talk to me about it and offer me cash.I hate that.

...and you'd both be mistaken!  You won't find a single post from me in the SSDB.  While I HAVE looked in it a few times, I knew that posting in there would make it pop up in the Show posts buttons above.  I didn't find the SSDB all that meaningful for daily perusal.  So, no posting there for me.
Anyway, the very existence of the SSDB  (and much of the open forum), makes personal posts counts uninteresting and irrelevant, to me.  It doesn't seem like a particularly stellar feat to poke the "post" button multiple times.  It's the whole quality vs, quantity, thing.

I do find it odd that so many posts seem to turn personal about me.  Particularly when our esteemed leader has made a point in instructing NOT to make posts personal.

...Now, back to the er "technical" part of the show....

Cheers,

P.S. I will admit to the influence of wintergreen oil and carb cleaner fumes while creating my original post in this thread.  Still, it seems amazingly lucid and truthful, if not humorous, even now.   ;D
In essence, if you discount what people have changed since the bike was new, you're left with a very good bike, indeed.  The problems with the bike are almost solely due to owner meddling, and lot's of that can happen to a machine in existence for 30-40 years.

1976 CB750F that I'm going through from one end to the other.  I'm wondering if anybody can tell me what the weak points of the bike are so that I can make corrections along the restoration process.  Thanks!!

Thanks for starting this post, I was interested in hearing some comments about the weak points of the '76 F. I'll be tearing into mine after riding season for a full rebuild. Looks like Hondaman's book is a must have.

TT - your post about the weak points is great observational humor, my favorite post of the week.

Obviously, I was joking about seeing you in the SSDB, but if I did, I would buy you a drink.

Here is a real CB750 "weak point" post, Neutral is sometimes impossible to find when the engine is running and the bike is NOT moving. IE: stop lights, gas stations, speeding tickets...yada yada. But you CAN slip it into neutral while coasting.

That is a clutch issue, provided it does not do the same thing with the engine stopped.

You got some fixin' to do.

Not to mention that almost every Honda from 1960 to 1979 was also like that... :D

There are really/realistically very few weak points, just a few things you can upgrade along the way and only when they need maintenance.

Crshnbrn - Think you've found a cool bike.  After Godzilla 1.0, and getting the chance to talk with Rxman & ride along with DonR & Bud for a stretch, hope to find one someday.
