Texas Crew Harvest Classic Meet Up
« Reply #250 on: October 14, 2017, 07:53:48 PM »
Do to unforeseen circumstances I may not be able to attend the Harvest Classic this year.  My buddy, who I had been planning on going to the Harvest Classic with had an unfortunate event he has to deal with.  An employee of his was killed in a motorcycle accident yesterday.  I do not know the details.  He does not know at this point if he'll be able to breakaway for the Classic.

As a result I do not know if I will attend.  I could go by myself, I suppose, but don't know if I would be able to haul two bikes, like I had planned.  If I go by myself I would probably have to ride, but I've been working on the house pretty much non-stop since the flood and I don't know if I could handle a road trip right now.  I had planned on cutting back on the house work this week so could rest up and I wouldn't be so tired for the rally.

Awesome bike! My dad gave me my first ride on a motorcycle when I was 5, on the same bike!

Sorry to hear this, Bud.   I know how much you were looking forward to it.  Can understand though, the last couple months have been a real challenge for you.

I'm planing on getting to Luckenbach by 11am.  Let's try to secure the same spot as we've had the last couple years - "Honda Corner".

Weather looks to be good although a cold front is coming down and we may get a little rain with it on Sunday.

As we've done the last few years, let's plan a ride on Friday and Saturday.  The ride up to "The Rock" is always fun, but we can change it up if you guys want?
I'd like to have lunch at the Pecan Grove Store, they are super nice there, we were allowed in their shop last year to view their incredible bike collection...

Looking forward to the weekend!

Unless something dramatically changes I'm out.  The funeral is on Saturday.  I just don't have it in me right now to make the trip on my own.

Sure wish I could make it.  Everybody stay safe and dry.

The accident happened to Joey's employee?

We'll have a moment of silence [and a shot] in his honor.

I will let Bryne chime in, but I believe Bryne and his wife, Rachel are plan to be there at 11 as well. I should be getting there at 12; I have to drop off my son at school at 8 AM then I’ll be on the road.

Yep.  His name was Roy.  He was following a car on a 2 lane road.  The car slowed down and Roy went to pass it.  Then the driver attempted to make an abrupt U-turn in the middle of nowhere without knowing Roy was behind them and took him out.  What's messed up is it happened in a no passing zone.

I'm sure Roy being the motorcycle guy he was would have wanted Joey to keep his plans, but Joey feels obligated to go to the funeral, rightly so.

I'll pass your sentiments on to Joey.

Hope y'all are having a good time.

Another reason for me not to make it this year reared its ugly head...we had to take my son to the ER yesterday.  He was in a lot of pain.  They took out his appendix last night.  He's doing OK.  Just a little pain from the surgery this morning.  It was probably best that I was here and not zooming around the Hill Country.

Well, another Harvest Classic has come and gone.  It was three days filled with bikes and booze, and only one bike casualty!

Here are a few random pics...

My H2 and Jeff's awesome Triumph...

The old Post Office...

Our ride up to "The Rock".....

Lunch at The Pecan Grove Store [restored 50's Sinclair service station]

And the owners awesome bike collection....

Wildflowers in October?  Only in Texas!

Live music.........

Partying with the Beemer guys....

Brought 2 bikes and came home with 3!  Joe's buddy Jason bought a beautiful custom '77 BMW at the charity auction and needed a way to transport it, I volunteered after Rachel's suggestion!

He'll be coming to pick it up Friday, and being the good guy that I am, I told him I would test ride it, make sure all is good!
And it is....

Great seeing you guys.

Good times!  Great to see you all!
We missed those that couldn't make it.  We will catch you next time, though.

I'm sure Steve won't put too many miles on that BMW while waiting for Jason to get there this weekend.
It's a beautiful bike and was the cover bike for the event page and on the T shirts this year.

You'll never know, there is no odometer!  I am taking good care of it, made it fit front and center in my shop.
But wife said it better be gone this weekend or she may be playing "bike dominoes"!!

Some more random images. Big turnout this year, lots of folks.
The '70's were well represented.
I liked the pipes on the CBX. You don't see many that are actually ridden much.

I guess it depends on where you are or where you look. I see one or the other almost every weekend. Including mine, there are at least 11 in a 25 mile radius from me.
