Thanks!  They (Marbles Motors) did a great job on it and I have an NOS K0 tank in the same color and the new paint puts the original to shame. 

Can't wait to get it all back together and get to riding!

Got a few small parts in today...I got the David Silver lower tank trim in, was surprised it was made of plastic, and I also got my left side exhaust collars in, they look great.  Still waiting on my order from Yamiya 750 and some place else that has the remainder of the parts. (Gas cap, right side exhaust collars, points cover, tank emblems, mirrors, key fob, etc.)

While I had a busy day at school, I did get some parts together in the free time between classes.

-ended up having to go to the late model dealership and they had the drain plug I needed

-went to cycle gear and got the k&n oil filter and some Honda "rider" oil to run for about 50 miles

-then went to the local bike breaker and found the lock washers and discontinued headlight spacer insert thing...the owner looked at what I had pulled out and said," Now you can't say I didn't give you anything." I laughed and left.

-got the parts in from yamiya today, my awesome key fob, new Honda OEM mirrors and really awesome tank emblems.  These are NOT Sudco's, they are a whole 'nother level.

Didn't get so much done today, I had maybe 15 minutes to work on the bike today, but I did get the headlight and turn signal stalks buttoned down...but the starter is giving me lip and won't spin over, even jumping the solenoid.  So I might be on the lookout for another starter and possibly switch housing.  I'll have a little time tomorrow in the morning to work and I'll try to see what is going on with it then.



The original front fender cleaned up fairly well, still has some dings though.

Thanks!  It has been a labor of love for sure...the next build I'm doing is not going to be of this caliber, more junkyard recovery type build

The carbs have been completely rebuilt, new intake boots, got the starter working...it was a loose wire... .   Getting close to being started this weekend...need a battery, redcoat the gas tank, new rear brake pads, rebuild the front caliper, and sync the carbs...

The quote I got for insurance was startlingly high for liability only, so I need to shop around and get it a tag.

You doing the Redcoat yourself? If so that is great. I had a local radiator shop do one of mine and the tank came back with marks in the paint, scratches, etc. Had I known that I would have wrapped the tank with protection.

I've used the Caswell product for sealing two tanks this year, not sure if Redcote is the way to go?

The only things I haven't done has been the bodywork, powder coating and plating...come to think of it, that's where the majority of the shine came from...but yes, I will be the one red coating the tank, the longer it has to cure the better...two week minimum.

I'll check with those guys for insurance, I have no tickets on my record and they (progressive) asked me for $400 for liability only, so I need to shop around for sure. 

Hopefully I'll be able to start it tomorrow...it has been off the road since 1981, so a nice 32 year slumber...it'll awaken to a new owner in better shape than it was when new.

Weather permitting, I'll try to drag it out into the sunlight for some better pics of the bodywork, the entire bike is dusty from sitting in the garage uncovered for a year, but still looks good.  The early K0's had black and silver tank emblems 69'-70', the 71' and up have the black and white emblems...I almost bought a set because I was having trouble finding a good enough K0 tank badge set for this bodywork.

Well, we have a problem, the camchain wore a hole through the can chain tunnel and is puking oil out...we are going to try to tap and thread the hole, it's strangely round, so I may be able to repair without pulling the engine.

Sorry to hear that.  Have you run the motor much since you've had it?

Ouch on the hole in the cylinders... may be tough to tap because it's probably very thin from wear.

It's a shame, the motor sounded great, filled the carbs with gas, and about the tenth kick it roared to life, sounded much healthier than my dad's K6, revs much faster, no engine noise what-so-ever...then we saw the oil, it's not a gasket, oring or anything we messed up on seal wise...it's something we missed. He says he can see where the leak is coming from, and there's a chance to fix...but it is likely to be thin in that area, so I guess I need to be on the lookout for another early cylinder in the meantime.  It's beginning to look like I might miss the Barber's deadline twice.

I can't believe it but he fixed it for me...no leaks!  Looks like I'll make barbers after all...sync the carbs, paint the other muffler shield, coat the tank and finish the brakes...I'm thinking of a custom tag...but I hung the bodywork on for some motivational shots.

How was the hole fixed? Glad to hear the good news and enjoy Barbers.... I am pretty sure there will be a few SOHC members there...David B will be..

My dad was able to precisely put JB Weld over the two, originally thought to be one, holes using some sort of thin metal rod and spatchula, being careful to remove all oil beforehand from the surface to bond.  Tried to run the bike for a moment again today...not a drop...I'll pull the engine again this winter (maybe) to do a more thorough repair, but for now, it's working.

Got the front brake setup working today, the little vent in the master cylinder was plugged and not forcing any fluid through, so I had to sort that out before I could use it to push the stuck piston out of the caliper...it looked good, so a good cleaning, new seal, and reassembly was all that needed.   I put the new mirrors on and only have a few minor details to attend to before Barbers...I think my dad and I are going to get his CB750K6 ready and take both our 750's down there.  What should I get as a custom tag?

I didn't see the post about Barbers, I'll try to find it...is it in general discussion?  The motorcycle tags here are five letters, and I was thinking of 750K0, SPRBK, KAYOH, etc.

Ended up making it to Barbers...it started running really bad...then tried to stall out...think the original condenser and points need replacement.  Needs lots of little things sorted out, steering head bearings need to have the steering stem nut loosened, handled strange.
