HELP 76 dt125 throttle problem
« on: August 17, 2012, 07:38:24 AM »
When I roll slowly on the throttle it's fine but if I crank on it it kills the engine. Any help is greatly appreciated

When did this problem start? Is it a bike you just got running or have you been riding it for a while and then the problem just started? A little back story would help. You are having a carb issue might need to clean them or adjust the idle mixture.

Sounds like a fuel problem. Do you have a shop manual? If so check the problem solving page if it has one. Also check that the carb is perfectly clean internally and all jets are clear. Needle jet clip should be in centre position and air screw adjusted out 1.25 turns.
Like previous post mentioned, a little history helps. Is it still running the oil pump or has it been converted to premix?

This has been a problem since I got the bike , I just got it running a few days after I got it. Took the carb off and looked inside and it looked great so I didnt really mess with it. I bet I just really need to clean them.

It may be the main jet. If it is too big it can allow too much fuel too soon and the result is the engine bogging down or even stalling. Main jet should be between #150 and #180 (according to my 6/75 parts list). Try a smaller size e.g. if it has a #180 try a #170. Does it have the correct plug - B8ES, is it new? Is it running the oil pump, if not jetting may need adjusting (if so this has the effect of leaning out your fuel mixture which is the opposite of what could be occuring but it's still something to consider).
