Battery options
« on: August 17, 2012, 08:53:57 PM »
Really a newb question here.

I was trying to reattach the vacuum tube to the top of the air box today and I moved my battery out of the box to get in there. In the process, I spilled battery liquid (acid?) on my seat.

I was pretty surprised that batteries still have spill spouts. I don't remember seeing this on any of my modern bikes in the past, but maybe I wasn't paying attention.

Can I buy a battery without a spill spout? The battery seems new, and the PO told me he just replaced it.

Is this an old-fashioned battery for an old fasioned bike, but is this the norm?

Can I buy a smaller battery and save some of that space for other stuff?

Thanks.

Mix some baking soda and water, and pour it over the acid spill to neutralize it, before it does any damage.
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!
