K6 front sprocket seal...
« on: August 20, 2012, 04:55:17 PM »
I've seen the threads where people talk about removing it, and the pictures of a mangled seal... i had quite the opposite experience. The seal came out easily using a drill and a fat wood screw. Now getting it back in... that's the problem. The first one (yes i said first) shaved little bits off the outer edge. Very fine small bits. It looked like it was in pretty well so i pulled at some of those bits to get them off and to see just how much rubber came out. The entire thing popped out. It literally popped, made a noise and everything. Pushing it back in it just disintegrated. The outer edges just crumbled nowhere near the joints of the case. Now the second one seemed like it was bent, skewed, uneven from the get go. Same story... little bits then one big chunk, but it stayed in there. They were all lubed up inner and outer. Seems to be a little too thin in between 8 and 9 o'clock. Smear some 3bond on it and call it good, or try for seal number 3? Anyone have a suggestion on installing seal #3? THANKS!
