Not sure if my kick start gear is ok or not.  There is lots of side to side movement.  I compared it to another engine and that one does not have any side to side movement, but has the oil pump attached.

The one in the video has nothing.  My thought process is that I have a weak spring that is not doing it's job.

Please take a quick look at the video and let me know if I am correct or not.  If bad how do I get it apart.  Thanks!

Psst, she said you need to stick your shaft in deeper. Seriously, after watching your video, I went to my shop and checked it out on a spare motor. Without the clutch cover installed, the kick starter spindle is free to move outward. The flange on the spindle shaft butts up against a boss on the inside of the cover, limiting side-to-side movement.

Thanks this really helps!  Now is I can figure out the rest of the lower end mumbo jumbo in a day or two I will be all set.  Just trying to select the correct ball bearings is enough to make you go bonkers.  They have 26 different variations on the same bearing.
