When powdercoating--watch out for rubber mounted bushings.
« on: August 22, 2012, 06:12:04 AM »
I decided not to remove the shock mounting rubber bushings on the swing arm of my 750 project before powdercoating Felt that I would destroy them in the process. Now I wish I had removed them anyway
'cause they are a little "cooked". I learned after the fact that powdercoating is a 400 degree process.

Perhaps someone will learn from my mistake.
Oh, BTW, any aftermarket replacements for these?

Yes, still available from Honda.
RUBBER, RR. SWINGARM   40548-268-000  about ~$5 each.
Push them out toward the inside. The holes are tapered.

I'm surprised the powdercoater left them in.
The place that did mine was very clear that all grease, paint, rubber, etc. had to be removed prior to bake to avoid contaminating their oven.
