Final shaft oil drive
« on: August 21, 2012, 06:15:34 am »
Just split the engine on my K8 1978 cb750. Only to find the final shaft oil drive is no longer there.

I've never had this engine running

Do I need one?

If so where can I get one ?

Thanks in advance stephen

If you mean the chain oiler, that was discontinued pre-K8, If you mean something else, I don't know what that would be. Course i don't know a lot of things.   :D

It's the flat looking plate with the bolt through it.

Thanks.

Most of us (me, anyway) throw that away. It is the feed for the chain oiler. Has nothing to do with anything else.

The oiler was discontinued pre-K8. Don't know exactly what they did other than do away with the visible oiler adjustment on the exterior. Maybe Honda threw out that pan as well, as its not needed. They went to an ORing chain, which requires far less maintenance than a non-ORing chain.

Just a quick wipedown and squirt every 500 miles or so.
