Uh oh, I think I am missing a spring...

I took my seat lock off yesterday to find the key number and it's missing the spring on the inside of the lock. Can I replace this spring with a spring from the hardware store or did I just ruin my lock? It's a cb550k 1977

There's nothing magical about the spring, so long as one fits.  ;)
