Rewiring turn signals - original switch colors
« on: August 24, 2012, 06:13:42 AM »
Hi,

One more PO trick. The turn signals are removed and doing that the original wiring harness has been turned into rats nest of broken wire. I tried tracking and measuring the wires in the headlight bucket but with little success.

As a plan B I decided that it would be better to rewire the turn signals. I sketched a simple diagram to do it (not really care about the turn signal indicator in the dash) but the real challenge is to find the wires to allow using the original left hand switch.

One schematic say plain orange and light blue. The other shows dark green and black. Looking into the headlight bucket I see orange and light blue...   ::)

See pictures below for the plan and for the wires coming from the left control, I'm planning to use LED indicators and a small electronic relay (Kellerman). The bike is CB750 K7.

You are correct   Orange LT, Lt Blue Rt.
The Brown/Blue from the switch harness is for the winker buzzer.

The remaining question then is, what is the wire feeding the switch? From the relay...

Thanks!

The relay wiring looks OK as 31 is ground and 45 is power, 49a the output... but what are those other two wires connected to the winker wires?

Im planning to use an electronic relay from Kellerman, the benefit is that then I can use any turn signals, like LED without issues with blinking rate etc.

The orange wires to the turnsignal wires are diodes that the relays has and "are sometimes needed" as said in the instructions  :o

Thanks for all the help!

Oops! Forgot that fuse would be healthy to have in a circuit. So one is going to be located on the hot wire from battery to the relay.
