By the way, I have aslo read that heat in chroming will melt the brazing of the farme, good thing you did ask.

Congratulations on the Rickman find. I have a 75 that I have restored and I really love the bike. The best thing I like about it besides the obvious is you can remove the head with out taking the engine out of the frame. They are easy to work on, except for finding parts. On my Rickman I had to re-manufacture the swingarm bushing assembly. The old Rickmans had silent block bushings and the owner before me tried to replace them but did a terrible job in doing so. The swing arm would not move and was bound up mainly due to someones lack of mechanical skill. I replaced them with bronze bushings and the swing arm now works great. If you need help in this area just let me know and I would be happy to assist. One informational item it took me awhile to locate was the amount of fork oil in each tube. The amount is 200cc's of good quality for oil. I was running 15w and that seemed pretty good for my application. Oh yes the other item I had a bit of a hard time finding was the steering upper and lower bearings. You can use a Consolidated L-25's if you need any. They are a bit spendy but will go right in. If you need photos of assemblies or anything else, like I said I would be happy to help. These bikes are awesome congratulations again. Thats my son next to the bike.

Hello All! I just found this thread. I am in the process of restoring a 1974 Rickman CR! It was originally built from a K1 and the motor is punched out to 810cc with a Norris "R" grind cam. I brought it home in boxes and it should be done this Spring (2012). I am currently looking for a rear set shifter for it, so any leads greatly appreciated! Here are a few pics! I am in the US near Boston.

A VERY rare part indeed! I have a friend who has one in his Rickman, but then he was a Parts Manager at a large Honda Dealership and bought it back in the day! He said even then it was a tough part to get. How did you come by yours?

Hi From Cape Town, South Africa. Your wheels are Paige Hilm, the same as mine. I am not sure of the spelling but they were used as were the Ronal wheels. They are Magnesium and paint such as Kalgrad will work well with them. This is mine from a rebuild a few years back. The frame got all dingy so I stripped it down and polished it with Autosol with good results.
