Hello SOHCers -- this is a new venue for me. While I'm not new to motorcycles, I am new to CB's. I've hand-built custom choppers and restored other 1960's era motorcycles, but just acquired a couple of CB750 motors from member Tews19 and am planning on putting one of them in a CycleOne frame and building a hot rod out of it.
I got inspired to do this project based on some of the bikes I've seen at Rockerbox in Milwaukee the past few years. The really creative and thought-through bikes seem to be using small displacement motors or 650/750 Japanese motors. I settled on finding a CB750 SOHC, because of the legendary reliability and availability of parts.
I'm just about done with a 1966 Bridgestone that I snapped-up this summer. And after that, I have a 1965 Honda S65 that I need to get in paint before too much longer and get rolling. AND THEN I'll get going on the 750 hot rod.
Here's a few shots of my biggest cycle project -- took me 2 years to build this. Some specs: 124 cubic inch S&S Super Sidewinder (that's 2,032 cc's) built by Kendall Johnson that is tuned, ported, and hopped-up to put 150 horsepower to the rear wheel. 5" open primary, 6 speed Baker transmission, 330 rear wheel, soft tail, and the frame is the oil tank (holds about 5 quarts). Bike is 10' long, and about 3' high.
