'77 750F PD Idle jet question
« on: August 24, 2012, 05:20:04 AM »
New bike that I couldn't get dialed in so pulled out the idle jet to see if it was clogged (it was) - and yes I know these jets are pressed in so you really shouldn't pull them out.

Well, someone had been there before. The end had numerous additional holes drilled to the point I'm not sure there's any metal left and all bent to sh#t, the center bore hole wasn't centered (or even close) and I thought the jet had been repaired as there was solder about midway up the length but after thinking about it maybe that was for an interference fit - maybe.

So this jet is in awful shape and I don't want to put it back in. I don't want to leave the other ones in as they are likely just as crappy.

Looking around I don't see any replacement jets (#35 stock size) available which kind of makes sense since you shouldn't take them out anyway.

Other than finding all new carb bodies, do I have any options or am I screwed?

Thanks for any help.

Yes...You can get new #35 jets from Sirius Consolidated. And I would just throw those other jets in your brass scrap box. They sell on Ebay too.
Just look up jets on Ebay and go down to the bottom of the page where it has a blue link that says ASK A QUESTION. Or go to the link that says store and then to CONTACT SELLER.

I had a small box with brass scrap in it and I took it to a recycler last week and got $30. It paid for my lunch and my gasoline too.

DO not believe this information.

Jiminy, if you don't find any, I've probably got one laying around.  Try www.motorcylecarbs.com also.

I have a 77k, if your looking down through the throat of the carbs, the center hole of the slow jet does not appear even. I was suspicious that there was something funny with mine but I got new ones an its the same. If you get new jets from sirius I would consider a #40, the stock jets are just a hair lean.

Thanks guys,
I just ordered a set from Sirius. Expensive little suckers, aren't they? :)

I would agree with that.
