Front end wise I have new bars, bar end mirror, grips, speedo, spray painted triples and new head bearings.
Put my rear wheel on tonight.
Soon it will be able to stand on its own two wheels and not need the lowsy half collapsed milk crate thats holding it up now!

Thanks for the kind words Digger. Just to make sure: It is the thinner washer and goes on the very bottom of the steering stem!

Moar photos. Put the rear on last night. Still need to find the nut that goes on the end of the axel. Probably just gonna go try to find one at lowes or menards. Napa didn't have one.

Heres a question.

How necessary are the rubber boot things on this brake part? I am missing one on this particular one. Does anyone make replacements? Do I need it? Thanks

The rubber boots are very important. They will keep contaminants out of your sliders. They will come with a quality caliper rebuild kit.

I think I should have an axle nut if you still need one.

Free if you can wait two weeks. I am using the axle while I paint my frame. I'll soda blast it and mail it out when I'm done.

Caliper rebuild in progress

I put my seal in on the inside of the caliper and lubed it up with some dot 3 to help the piston get in there but the piston keeps catching on the seal.

Should I just push REALLY hard? I've already gave it some umph but not luck. Thought I'd ask on here before I break something.

That recessed part is what is catching.

What do I do?

You're going backwards. The recessed part doesn't pass the seal. It's what the dust seal rides on.

So I need part #10 but nobody sells it anymore.
Also, I need #13/14 but I don't remember it even being there when I disassembled my brakes.

Anyone know a place that makes these anymore? If not who wants to sell me some?

dont know about 10, i know i guy i can ask if he has some, they are anti rattle springs. 13 and 14 are anti rattle shims, pretty sure i have em in the barn, will have to look later tonite.

i know you already know that it is in upside down, but if you still have trouble putting it in the right way, you can put the caliper with the rubber ring inside it in the freezer for a few hours and it will be easier to get the piston in! little tip

Do any of you guys think boiling my battery box rubbers for a minute or two be a good idea to help with getting them back in their respective places? I've tried multiple times with a variety of tools and can't get the buggers back in. Any input would be appreciated.

I would try heat of some kind - like hot water. Boiling may be overkill.
