Getting it right on the hundredth try!
« on: August 19, 2012, 03:19:01 AM »
Ever had one of those days when nothing went right when rebuilding a bike then suddenly on the hundredth attempt it bloody well works?
Had a day like that today on a little 250 I'm doing some stuff on, whoever decided to make the throttle cable so hard to hook up to the carb activator needs a swift kick in the goolies!!! >:(
And if the same twit decided hiding the clamps that hold the carb rack onto the heads under the actual carbs was a good idea he needs to be shot into space!!! :o
Some bikes end up with waaay too much of my skin and blood as part of their contruction!
Oh yeah and what about the goober who decided that the main jet and the slow idle jet should be exactly the same size and thread (apart from having the hole in the middle 3 times as large) can get in that dang rocket too!! >:(
Of course I'm working on a "grey" import so there are no manuals to refer to and if I have mixed up those two jets and I have to strip it all down again I WILL F*#RKEN SCREAM!!!!!! :'( >:(
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

Yes, every time I put my air cleaner back on my Venture!
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

Got the muthering thing all back together and pool of gas under the bike in morning!
Pulled carbs, looking for a stuffed gasket but no instead found #3and #4 carb bowls have hairline fractures across them! >:(
Bike was dropped hard on that side but you would have thought carb bowls would have survived.
Now, do I replace them or fix them...can you fix them? ???

A 4 cyl. 250? What the hell have you got there? I would attempt float bowl cross-pollination but I have no idea what bike that could possibly be.
If it's worth doing at all it's worth over-doing.

He picked up a little sportbike not too long ago.  Can't remember what is it though.

Oh sorry, Suzi GSXR250R we seem to have imported a swag of these from Japan, I also have a CBR400RR sitting int he shed awaiting a massive rebuild, that's another 4 cyl small bike but with a ton of power.
The GSXR250R has a top speed of around 200klph so quite a rice rocket.
Anyway I found out from a bike mech buddy that there is some cold weld stuff I can spread on and then you clear coat over it, works a treat. ;)

You don't see any of those here. It would need apers and forward controls to sell.
If it's worth doing at all it's worth over-doing.
