Equal size to 400F Exhaust ?
« on: August 24, 2012, 11:12:39 PM »
Het folks ; The wife is wanting to replace/redo the exhaust on her 400F motor. While I can measure the exhaust where it exits the head I don't know what other bikes exhaust downtubes are the same size. Any other bikes have the same size exhaust tubes? The exhaust that's ther has a bad crushed area on the No# 4 tube where it bends to go back that's about 4"+. Plus she's thinking about running 4 into 2 type exhaust. Anybody got any info on the sizes? Thanks,   ..cougar...

The 350f fits the engine, but there is no connector on the left side of the bike to hang an exhaust. If I were you I'd get that exhaust fixed or buy a replacement in eBay or from DSS.

Factory replacement is preferred but is expensive.  M.A.C  makes a good exhaust at a reasonable price.  I found these from an ebay seller in about 2 minutes.  I have an old M.A.C pipe on my 550 that I bought 20 years ago that is still in great shape, good chrome.  Can't speak to the quality today though.

camelman ; Cool on the 350F being the same size! As far as any hangers, that's no problem for me as I've been a metal fabricator for a few years and have most everything I would need to do something like that. And I do have some extra exhaust that I could cut a patch piece from and weld it in place of the deformed area.                lone*X ; I understand your comment on "factory replacement is preferred" ! Really I agree with that as I think that the 400F exhaust with it's sweeping together to 1 side looks Cool as H*ll . I love the look myself, it looks quite similar to the 4 into 1 Hondamatic exhaust I have on my SOHC 750. But this is one of those cases where one needs to please the customer (wife) and not myself, LOL !  I'm playing with the idea of bending my own (to please her) exhaust. Being a female (alright ladies, Crucify me) she keeps deciding that she wants this design, then that one! So I'm just trying to cover as many bases as I can before I get to the point of finalizing the exhaust, LOL !!  And the $$$ situation is for the most part non-existant as right now she's the only one working so I'm mostly building what I need not buying  :-[ !   ...cougar...
