Hi Sam , and all the best for 2013  ;)
Yes things are moving on . In between doing the usual things we all do at this festive time of year, I've  managed to get some jobs done on the bike .I'll be posting some pics when I have time  ::). I'm planning on having the rolling chassis done by the last day of April 2013 , then it will be time to start on the really interesting part of the project "the motor"  8).
Regards Greg "H".

Just a quick update , I've checked, and it seems that I havn't posted anything since early January .
My target for the rolling chassis has always been to have it finished for the last day of April 2013. I'm still on target , but if it over runs by a few weeks , thats no problem because that still gives me till early 2014 to have the bike up and running in plenty time to enter it in a few Drag/Sprint meets. The racing season starts up pretty soon over here and I've still got the old Busa to play on, so I'll be entering a couple of Mile meetings to get my "fix" this year, and just" keep diggin "with the Honda .

I got a selection of stanchions and a couple of bottom sliders of a guy off the UK site , so along with the ones I already had off the donor bike ,I was able to select a really nice set . The sliders are off at the polishers at the moment, which gives me time to knock up a couple of ally spacers to shorten the forks and to shorten the fork springs to suit . I've already sorted out the front brake caliper/mount and have most of the bits required to rebuild the forks when I get the sliders back .
The swing arm required a new  spindle , and so we could use some 5/8 stainless bar stock we had lying around ( rather than machining down a much larger piece we had) for the replacement swing arm spindle, we knocked up a pair of new swing arm bushes to suit .The stock rear spindle was too short for the longer arm ,so a new longer  spindle complete with nuts at either end was also made up from a suitable piece of stainless .
I havn't got the time or the inclination to do the plating, polishing and painting on this project ,so I do find myself subject to some delays which are beyond my control, but so far (fingers crossed) the delays have only resulted in slight frustration for me rather than any real cause for concern . Greg "H".

That's a beautiful swinger Greg, nice! Cheers, Terry.  ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Cheers Terry . I think that you'll like the frame when I get it painted  ;). I'm really enjoying this build cos the last time I built a bike from the ground up I (and I suspect most people on the planet) had never heard of the internet .So being able to access so much info through sites such as this, and being  able to buy stuff so easily from anywhere in the world off flea bay etc, really adds to the experience for me .Regards Greg "H".

Ha ha, that's very true mate, the only problem I have is explaining to the wife that all those parcels that keep arriving are just things that folks send me from all over the world to repair for them.................  ::)

Apart from the colour( I'm thinking of going for metalic orange ,although I'm not sure what the official name of that  colours  is yet ::))  I reckon that my bikes is going to end up looking a lot like yours mate . Although I've not been posting many updates recently (due mainly to working long hours etc ) things are moving on quit nicely .

Thats the one  8) . I'll be getting the guy who painted the cut down tank/LSR front mudgaurd on my Busa to do the painting on the Honda tank and sidepanels . He paints mercs/bmw's for a living, and the finish on the Busa tank he did is as good as a "factory" finish .Me and my brothers, and a couple of mates can do most things machining/fabricating wise , but when it comes to painting we leave it to the professionals .

Been over it quit a few times . Best it ran was 208.2 mph in the mile , in fact on that day it had hit that speed around the kilo mark 8) 8) . We didn't have the sprockets with us  to go up with the gearing so we had to settle for that . It's a hell of a buzz spinning it up in the higher gears when you're really tramping on , and now that we have a bit more torque/power (and the correct sprockets) it should be able to go a bit faster over the mile , all things being equal ;),as Mile racing( particularly on a bike) is very dependent on the prevailing weather conditions .

One mile racing can be good fun, more so when you have a howling tail wind. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Back in 71, I was on a full Flying mile at Elvington with the mother of all tail winds.
The bike (175 Honda) would normally run around 87mph at 9500rpm in still air but with this howler it spun up to nearly 14000.
The motor cut out as I entered the traps and it free wheeled for the full distance to return a two way average of 73mph.
Some years later, I calculated that it must have been around 119mph. 8) 8) 8) 8) 8).
The last time I ran a Mile was at Woodbridge on My RS175 (134cc), it ran 118mph into a 15mph head wind. How things have changed. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Just a bit of an update . There's a bit of a delay getting the frame painted and also there's going to be a slight hold up getting the wheels done . The frame painting isn't a real problem ,as it's worth the wait considering it's being done for free by a mate who runs a powder coating plant in a trailer manufacturing factory, and I know it will be done right .The wheels are different , even though they're being done by a guy who's been lacing up wheels for 40yrs , and who's trying to keep the cost to a minimum , they're still going to cost a packet , but should look" spot on " when they're done . I'll post up picks when they're done .

Here's a couple of pics of something I've actually got done . A couple of spacers to internally shorten the forks.
