Cb450 tune up question

Went to set the lash between the cam and the cam followers but the right exhaust side will not even adjust remotely close. Following the book The other followers adjusted out great. I see movement on the troubled follower but just doesn't seem to have enough adjustment range.

Assume this action is on some type of cam to pivot like this? Do you think the cam lobe is worn out to cause this? Or do you think something could be out of alignment? How hard is it to replace a follower or adjustment pin?

Do you have the shop manual? You need to follow instructions to get cylinder to TDC which is covered in manual. You can down load it for free. If you can not find it here I think do the ton has it.

Are you saying that with the feeler gauge between the cam and rocker you cannot get the clearance down to specs?...Larry

That's correct the follower will not adjust tight enough to get the desired spec..or even close. Looking at the adjustment range, the follower just rises and falls as you spin the adjustment pin. Feels like the cam lob it rise on maybe worn. Does anyone have a picture of the follower?

Looking at the exploded and some eBay links it appears the Cam Follower Shaft # 7 here is what normally causes the follower to rise up and down. That is very interesting that it would have wear......I'm going build some heat in the engine as this bike is sitting for awhile, if its not any better after that, I'll tear into it.

Looks like I might be able to replace that shaft with the engine in the bike. If I hold the cam follower with some needle nose pliers, remove the speedo housing cover and slide the shaft out the side, replace and reassemble. I don't see anything on the shaft I would loose other than needing to guide the shaft back into the follower.

Thoughts?
