27TH Annual ChicagoLand "Midnight Tour" July 8th......
« on: June 28, 2006, 07:16:27 AM »
I totally forgot about this , but here's the info..

27th Annual Midnight tour.
It is the largest group of motorcycles at one time in the chicagoland area.
All money goes to a good cause, and is a great way to get some seat time in a
controlled, street blocked off ride..
The year I attended, I think their was over 3000+ bikers. Ride is usually around 40 miles each way , to a "undisclosed" location..Always best to stay in the rear of the pack, to avoid the congestion, sportbike idiots, etc..
Click the link below for more info--->
http://www.jerseypinecruisers.org/Midnighttour/tour.html
Me and STEVEF are tentatively talking about making his run the Chicagoland SOHC "meeting & ride"..

Spread the word.... ;D

I was thinking that maybe we could meet up at a restaurant in the ride area, get some dinner , bullcrap for awhile , then make our way to the ride. Leaves at 12am on dot, so it would be best to get to the event around 11:30 or so, that way we are in the back of the pack, where it is less congested...

I am in for sure, anyone else.... ?

CBJUNKIE ?
PORSCHEGUY912 ?
STEVEF ?
ELCHEAPO ?
BIGBOB ?
STLROCKER ?
MKRAMER  ?

Hope the weather cooperates!  I'm usually there by 5:30 or so to enter the "show".  What's nice about entering the show is they move the entrants to the front of the pack when it's time to leave.    That alone is worth the extra $5
Anyone else going?   The last couple of years there have been 4, 5 or more SOHC's in the pack, no one around the bike so I'd leave a card on it.  Time to print-up some more "business cards" for the SOHC/4.

Steve ,

I am all in for the ride, not gonna do the show part of it.
I would rater meet up with some fellow riders for some dinner before the ride
(Great places to eat around their) , then shuffle our way into the ride around 11pm or so.

I ave a group of about 5 buddies (varying bikes) who are in for the ride, we just need to get more SOHC'ers to go with us....

Hey man , I am all in for this one.
Like I said, I say that we all meet up earlier in the evening , say maybe 7pm or so, get some dinner somewhere in the area (which I know very well) , then cruise into the show around 10:30-11pm. This way we can get towards the rear of the pack (usually around 3000 bikes) , and then still have time to "mingle".

As a rule the ride goes for about 40 miles to the "secret destination". The year I went (which I think was 2004) we ended up about a 1/2 hour west of Rockford. Allot of people get to the end and just turn around and head home. Most stay and bull#$%* for awhile. I am up for anything. Don't kid yourself, it WILL be a late night , Last time I got home around 4:30am  ;D

So far we have :
Myself (ProTeal55)
STEVEF
MKRAMER1121

All bikes are welcome, as I just wanna put some mile on my scoot.
I have a fewbuddies going with me, and they ride all sorts of different things..
Once has a Honda vtx, another has a 9 sec turbo Busa, etc...
So if you have another bike - ride that... ;D

With rooms starting at $80 for night I am having a hard time making this one fly. I would be in but we just spent alomost $500 for me to go to AZ last week for the funeral. If I could get around the room thing and a place to park the car with my trailer. Yes I would trailer queen it.  ::) I would be in.

I wish I had the the room, but I dont   :(
You can get a room at a motel 6 or something in the area for cheaper than $80 I am sure.
Click below ElCheapo --->

Their is NO WAY that place charges 80 a night, believe me....

This is one that I have to turn heels on mates. Created a MAJOR fight in the house. But things could change. The main issue is the lodging. With the cost of lodging the grand total would be over $200. Like I said things can change. The signage for teh shop is eating the money I would normally use for this.  ;)

Thanks for the info STEVEF.....

Here's what I think we should do.
Meet up at 7 ~ 8pm at Photo's HotDogs - See link below

http://metromix.chicagotribune.com/dining/31922,0,7966854.venue
It is about 5min away from the ride starting point, so we would be right their.
We could hang their , get some food, bull#$%*, etc.
Their is a gas station right next to the place, so we can all fuel up before the ride. I stress this because on this "mystery ride" , the LAST thing you want to do is run outta fuel, because you will be in the middle of no-where :o. Then around 10ish or so we all caravan into the ride..

The list of riders is growing, which is a plus. The more bikes we have in our "pack" the better. Like I said I plan to be in the rear of the pack, and let all the idiots, HD guys, Rocket boys and the such play bumper-bikes , while we can just sit back and enjoy the ride. Weather is said to be perfect.

DON'T MISS IT
...... :o

Here's the deal for the ride ----->

Meet up between 7 - 10pm at Photos hotdogs (link to map above)
They have a cruise night their, so should be a good time , lots of cars/women/bikes/etc..
Get some dinner , head to the gas station down the street for some fuel , then off to the ride.
All riders need to be "registered" by 10:30pm , so we need to be their by then.
PM me if you need my cell phone # , but just look for the kid with the long sideburns and the jacket that says "JR" on the pocket. I usuall dont stray too far from my scoot, so if you need to talk to me , just go sit on my bike and I will come a-running  ;D

Tell you friends, said to be going north this year....

RIDE RECAP

Everyone who attended survived the MIDNIGHT COLLIDE , which was a plus.
MKRAMER ended up having some fuel related issues, and by the time he got them sorted the ride was gone, but he made it home
safely (all that matters). Me and my triumph buddy were the last two in the pack for awhile , but after some "aggressive" riding , got back into the middle of the pack. We caught up with STEVEF after the ride ended, and cruised back home with him , and my buddy Steve on his VTX1800. All in all it was a good time, as I put about 130 miles on that little CB of mine with no issues, except I need to re-install a horn, turn signals, and do alittle re-sprocketing to get alittle more up top...

STEVEF --> Get me some pics of that exhaust, I need to find out who makes that damn thing !  ;D
