Got a beauty K0!
« on: August 26, 2012, 01:41:25 PM »
Well, I stumbled upon a '69 I couldn't resist. Build date 12/69. Wrinkle tank, early key style, unstamped pipes. Completely unmolested... one tiny dent in the tank. Cases are good, no thrown chain damage. I can't find anything missing, except the seat strap. Even the air box is perfect, not one crack! 3 of the pipes are good, one has a small hole. Going to try and just weld it up perhaps.
I think it's in such good shape, it might be a shame to restore it. I think I'm going to get it running and just clean it/polish off the rust.
Now my Blue Green K0 has a brother!...I'll keep you posted, John.

Nice find. The sidecover screams "survivor". Why is it, of the three K0 colors, red seems to get the lion's share of fading?

Wow that's a nice one.    I agree with the others - don't restore.     Just take one section at a time and clean it thoroughly and reassemble.
I used kerosene, rags an assortment of tooth brushes cleaning brushes and 000 steel wool for the chrome.

Lucky dog.     They're out there boys...just gotta find 'em.
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

Yeah thanks guys. I'm pretty happy with the find. It came out of a older guys collection. There's also and REALLY mint 78 CB750 that will be for sale soon as well. It has 3,000 miles on it! There was also a BSA Gold Star.
Apparently red is one of the most easily faded colours, I've noticed on cars, the same thing. I'd rather not say what I paid, not too high, not too low. (I didn't steal it)

Markets come and go.  The market for this bike is off the charts right now.  Fully restored these are going for BIG BIG bucks.  At some point the market will correct it's self.  If your thinking about making some money you might want to think about where the market is and where it is going.

It's hard to say when it will correct itsself. It could be in six months or it could be in a few years.

If it were me (because I like money) I would restore it, sell it, buy a real nice K1 or newer and enjoy the extra five figures in my bank account.

Whatever you decide to do, nice find and best of luck to you.

I went to a "bike night" Friday.  there were at least 500 Harleys there.  Most of those Harleys had thousands of dollars of Goodies to make that bike stand out.

There was 1 red 1970 Honda in like new condition.

The Honda got more attention then the $30,000 Harleys.

They are only original ONCE

Another great bike you can be proud of

Great buy!

Never restore an original bike in a good condition. It's original once. Clean it and polish paint work.

Yes the vented side covers and the ducktail seat. KO's are the best! I guess I'm prejudice, because I'm one of the lucky ones that has one too ;) I like the design of these two items much better than the K1-K6 styles, even though I have a K6 also..

THANKS GUYS, yes, I think clean and polish, that's it. It kinda needs new seat foam if I can do it, and get that cover back on properly.
and it was missing a key. When I went to get it, the Honda shop had pulled off the key barrel, and bought a new key, and barrel, with they had installed.....I kinda freaked and said, "I hope you still have the original one here!!!" They did, and I managed to find a new key in Toronto in about 24 hours, and it fit! I am lucky on this one.

Awesome bike. You should drive one of those sweet machines up Hwy. 10 to Owen Sound...great riding up here.
