CB1100 coming to the states finally?
« on: August 26, 2012, 11:37:57 PM »
I feel like we keep getting the carrot bike waved in front of our noses.  The October issue Motorcyclist has an article talking about it again on pg 12 or 14.  This thing seems like a good bike, with sales having taken off in Japan and Austraila.   I find it silly that that they brought the CB1000R here first, as much as I like that bike.

There has been an interesting explosion of naked bike sales here lately, what with the new Speed and Street Triples and Tuono, the Z1000, the FZ8 and a bunch of others.  I love the CB1100 - I sincerely hope they bring it over.  That said, it would be hard to part with my Speed Triple, which would have to happen to make room in the garage.

Thanks for the response SR, I thought there'd be more interest in the bike than just you.   I think it's neat the bike is still primarily air and oil cooled.  In the article, it was mentioned that in designing the motor's heads/barrels, hollow shafts were cast in so more air is blown through to aid in keeping the cylinder heads at a moderate temperature.

I heard the same rumor about it coming to the states. I think it would have a pretty good following here.

At $10K, I doubt many of us will be buying one new.  Is it 3 times better than my K4?

Actually,  adjusted for inflation, it 's darn close to what the 750 went for in 1970.

wow, they've introduced quite a few new models we didn't even get here last year including the CB1100.  Anyone else see the new iteration of the Goldwing?

The 3.9 gallon gas tank kills the idea for me.  It needs to be a couple of gallons bigger, like the old DOHC 4s had.

Not bloody likely.

I wonder if they are going to come out with an "F" model equivalent?

I like the way  the CB1100 looks.  I am not into the sport bike, hunched over the gas tank riding stance. I am not a big cruiser style bike fan either. The first time I saw a picture of the CB1100, I must admit, I was smitten. No other manufacturer has a modern "sit up straight and ride" motorcycle. I really want one, but the money tree in my back yard has stopped bearing fruit.  If I come into a large amount of money, I just might buy one.  I'm still going to buy an CB750k SOHC that I can work on and call MINE. You know what I mean?

I take that back, Triumph and Harley have some "standard" style bikes. I was talking about Japanese bikes.  I'll confess, my wallpaper is a picture of a CB1100.
