Electrical problems........oh joy
« on: August 28, 2012, 03:48:18 AM »
Head light does not come on all of the time.

Neutral light is on all the time.  It gets brighter when in neutral.

High beam indicator light does not come on

Taillight blows fuses.

Could this all be from the same bad ground?  Do I have a positive arcing out on the frame?  Is it both of these and more?

You sure don't say much about what you have tried so far. Has this all just happened? Was the bike running when it happened? Do you have a meter and know how to use it?

High beam indicator light does not come on
Maybe cause the head light does not come on

Might could help if I had a print. But there are so many to choose from ;D

I had a similar problem with my headlight and I couldn't track down any loose wiring.  I took the fuse harness off and gave it a good cleaning with QD electrical cleaner as it was pretty cunked up and it worked.  Try unplugging one thing at a time and cleaning it to see if that helps.

Bike:  76 CB750K
Ive owned it since the spring but I have only ridden it about 100 miles so far.  It is a project bike so I am still tinkeiring with it.

Fuse box was pulled and fully cleaned.

highbeam indicator does not come on even when the headlight it on (w/high beam).

cuircut seems good from the headlight to the first harness clip under the tank.  Wires from the fuse box back to the taillight are good.

Wires inside the headlight bucket are all clean and connected.

Indicator is a separate bulb, you'll need to remove the gauge to check it. Wire is blue.

Neutral light is most likely dirt at the switch or a pinched wire. It is a light green and red wire.

Tail light is possibly a pinched or frayed wire under the seat.  Wire is brown.

Good luck....Larry
