Topic: stupid question fuel lines

i cant seem to find on google any threads that mentions what are some good fuel lines

i remember i posted something about this and everyone gravitated to some specific brand

im using some clear blue crap fuel line i bought from a motorcycle shop. since im taking apart my carbs to move the needle clip might as well put some good quality line in

I use the 5.5mm Honda stuff. Kink resistant, lasts a long time, and you don't have to fight to get it on or off (or fight to keep it on, for that matter). Not cheap, but worth it. PN 95001-55003-60M.

im not going to lie i just use regular 1/4 tubing i dont wanna pay for the exotic (here in the states) 5.5mm diameter or whatever line.

i just secure all the lines with zip ties they dont slip off.

pro motion fuel lines any good.

im buying spark plugs and points from z1 and thats the fuel lines they have so if its decent or good it be a nice one stop shop and ill save some shipping $$$$$$$$$$

Just remember that if it is a 1977-78 CB750 that the fuel lines
that distribute fuel to the accelerator nozzels have
brass restrictors hidden inside the black rubber hoses.
 Do not throw them away by accident.

Sudco was the brand name that was highly recommended in the last thread I read on this subject.  It has a thin red line down the side

As mentioned above the Honda product not only doesn't kink, it is also easier to route as it is a smaller overall diameter than the 1/4" stuff.

Get the right stuff, you will be glad you did

i have to use an excessive amount of force to pull them off..... its not like these lines are under presure and they sure wont vibrate off

Just remember that if it is a 1977-78 CB750 that the fuel lines
that distribute fuel to the accelerator nozzels have

i have a 1972 cb750 i havent gotten around to yet. i was talking about my cb550

does the 1972 have these hidden restircters?

Might be just me but I couldn't find the Tygon in a 5.5mm dia.

I think the point is that the Google Custom Search works very well. Just give it a phrase to look for. Even though it will find thousands, your answer will almost surely lie in the first few. That is the case with a search on "fuel line". everything in this current thread was disclosed/discussed in the first few of the search.

Don't get me wrong, I'm perfectly fine with revisiting a subject. At times something new or previously missed comes to light.

My point is simply the Google Custom Search works very well, if needed.

Motion pro line on Z1 site comes in ID of 3/16" 1/4" and 5/16".
Those sizes translate into 4.76mm (too small), 6.35mm (too big) and 7.94mm (wayyy too big).
None are the 5.5mm size that your bike needs.
You could probably squeeze the 3/16 line on there, but it's gonna split eventually, exactly when you don't want it to. 
Answer is NO those won't work.

I'm running 3/16.  It's super tight and if you put it all the way up the nipples then it's nearly impossible to remove without cutting.  In fact, most of the time the petcock nipple pops out before the fuel line.  Yup, I put those two words in the same sentence.  So funny.

Looks like you can get a meter of black 5.5" fuel line on ebay for about $15 shipped.   I'd love to know if you can get it in a clear (or translucent).  I've enjoyed looking at he fuel in my lines!

I've really looked and never found 5.5 in clear. I too like looking at the fuel. I found a 1/4 in clear with gold braid in it. Don't know where though, just have it in my scrap box from 100 years ago. It fits tight.

Which goes to the point. Some people will find loose 3/16 and others tight 1/4 that suits them well. Just manufacturing tolerances.

But overall, those sizes they are too tight or too loose.

I think I run 3/16"Tygons  on my carburetors.   I can pull them off and put them back on and it still seals.  Much better than the nylon I had before.
