Imola 200 anybody?
« on: August 31, 2012, 12:44:18 AM »
Well, guess that it's never going to be a sohc4 - hipo get together like the manx, but if any of you make it to Imola, leave here a note. Will most likely be around there on saturday, sept. 22.

it's always time for another holiday.... how was your trip?

our federation has teamed up with the event and the endurance race is going to be part of our national series. might be tempted to parade.... we'll see

the trip was great tg stayed in lanersbach near mayrhofen , took your advice and went to the ducati museum [ which i would recommend to anyone ] unfortunately was only away for 9 days and had other stuff to do so didnt have time for some of your other excellent recommendations so will have to come back again next year ! . next time however i wont ride there in a day , a bit far for an old man on an old bike !

is imola run by the same people who do the spa bikers classic tg ?

yep its organized by dgsport, same people
ride down in one day? gee. back in 99 i had a superblackbird on loan and even if you could do then 140 mph or more on the french autoroute without much problems with the gendarmerie, I didnt manage to do london - florence in one day...

the superblackbird would do exactly 120 miles per tankfull when "cruising" at 120-130 mph.... so had to stop once an hour exactly each time, for gas (and coffe) so at the end was equal to 80 mph i guess !

alex, its a four hour thing and if it gives you an extra incentive, you'll be up against all of our national teams, quite a few fast people in there like Samuele Sardi & Oreste Zaccarelli who took third in the last  Bikers classic. cut off date is 1980 so your DOHC should be ok.

if you need a rider just let me know.... :)
