Both tires at the same time?
« on: August 31, 2012, 04:11:01 AM »
Do you change both tires at the same time?  The rear has to go, the front is still ok, I dont think it makes much difference for my riding, but still curious what is the common practice.

Both tires at the same time?

Depending on type of riding yes. My sport touring bike eats two rears to one front.  Just check the front closely, make sure it's not cupped. You can kinda tell by rubbing your palm around the tire in opposite direction.

Thanks, guys. I may go with K761 if I get inspired and in that case I would change them both - dual sport and street does not seem too kosher to mix.

youll feel much better with a pair of new matched tires, make sure you get quality tubes aswell, most shops have those ching wahh brand ones as they mostly do tubeless these days and dont care for us old spoked guys,,even if you have to source the tubes yourself.

Don't forget the recommended 5 year maximum life from date of manufacture.

That's the plan, Dave. To change tubes everytime I change tires.

I give up ... searching the net anywhere from 4 to 10 years ... 6 appears to be common ... oh well I will crawl back into my cave.

If you want a great tube, spring for a Metzler natural rubber tube.
