I recently procured a really clean well built and taken cared for CB550k. It has some interesting stuff to it and I've had a lot of help identifying items from fellow members in the performance sub-forum. Essentially this. The bike is pretty much done; I simply plan to change a few things to meet my tastes and perform basic maintenance to ensure the bike runs and operates top notch. The bike sat for about 2 years indoors at a shop that didn't have many details about the bike.
I've had the bike for about 2 weeks at this point and have done the following:
Cleaned Carbs(stuck floats)
Unfroze the stuck caliper in the front(still drags a little, not sure what else I need to do to stop it)
Fixed a few wire gremlins(had no tail/brake lights)
Fixed the exhaust leak using an oldschool hotrodder trick(steel wool, packed it in good enough and performed a smoke test, no more leaks
)
Changed oil
Started re-polishing covers
The bike had mooneyes painted on....wish they would have been stickers :/ So I bought some vinyl and covered it with a cheesy number plate.
Plans for the future:
New/different tail/seat section- in red
powder coat wheels gloss black or trade for something different, it will be hard to change the original finish on an old set of Henry Abe wheels
Change out headlamp for something smaller and non sealed beam
red grips
Rebuild forks
New rear shock
Possibly adding a front stabilizer
Possibly new gauges, the oe set currently on the bike are mint...but ginormous...
This isn't the most exciting build but the new revisions should change the bikes look considerably, thanks for looking.
