1974 750/550 Honda Brochure
« on: September 03, 2012, 02:26:54 AM »
I took this brochure home in June 1974- just discovered it today going through items displaced by our home remodel. Enjoy. Happy Labor Day to all.

So you got this brochure when you purchased you 550? Amazing Coach that you still have the bike and the brochure 38 years later. I bet your one of the few that has the original bike and sales brochure to go along with it. It brought back a lot of memories when you found it I'm sure. Thanks for posting it. Just wandering Coach, but what made up your mind get the CB550 and not the larger 750? Ever had any regrets in doing that? By your pics of your 550 it still looks mint. Beautiful bike! I bought a slightly used really nice all original 1976 CB550 back in 77 and I really liked that bike. Of course now I wish I had held on to it :( Have a good labor day also ;)

Thanks for sharing.  Very interesting to see these old brochures.  I have the 1974 CB350F, and was disappointed that it wasn't also listed with the CB550 and CB750 in the brochure you have. :(

P.S.  Have a good Labor Day too.  It's lovely out here in Nova Scotia where we are visiting...I miss my bikes back home though. :'(

Hi Coach,  Thanks for posting and sharing the classic brochure! I ride a sunrise flake orange cb750 just as  pictured in your posting.  All original and unrestored! Even has the four into four exhaust.  Every time I fire up the motor I get a rush just hearing it! These fours have a very distinctive sound that really gives these bikes character. The newer bikes are nice and the technology is great but they lack one thing for me..... character. Thanks again, cooldrum

The next generation of restorers will be looked after too. I had a '93 600F2 that I put 45,000 kms on in  3 summers. It's character was that it was fast, reliable, and it started easily no matter what the weather. When they reach the 30 year old mark I'll get another one, preferably in need of restoration!
If it's worth doing at all it's worth over-doing.

Just wandering Coach, but what made up your mind get the CB550 and not the larger 750? Ever had any regrets in doing that?

I remember reading some reviews in the motorcycle mags at the time touting the improvements in the 550 over the 500 (improved clutch, etc.) and the incredible handling that the lower COG allowed, even when compared to the 750. I was coming from a 305cc. SuperHawk, so the power the 550 offered seemed more than adequate to me. I've generally been happy with that decision ever since, but I'd like to pick up and restore a 750 when I retire just because it is the unquestioned SOHC icon. You, my friend, have some incredible machines- enough to turn the rest of us green with envy.

I see a 'blooper' in the brochure. Look at the picture of the tach and instruments that is labeled as K4 750,first picture top row. Does anybody see anything wrong with the tach ??  ;)   Whoops  :)

Its kind of correct. Most people do not realize that. Far left and far right you get the signal with the buzzer. If you slide the switch in between off and the far extreme yo get just the signal without the buzzer, like if your sitting at a light or something. Those 4 with the off makes it a 5 position.  As for the '750' tach pic they must have slipped in a pic of a 550 by mistake.
