Is the 750 neutral switch threaded into the case...

... or is it just held in place by the tab/bolt?

I don't know whether I should be twisting or pulling.

Mine is leaking. It amazes me that these motors can leak from soooo damn many new and interesting places.

Just the tab/bolt holds it, plus whatever friction a 40 year old hardened o-ring can provide....

+1.  If you have to, remove the bolt & tab, then get a pair of needle nose pliers and start turning the switch from side to side, pulling down.

When you go to re-insert the new switch, might try a 18 X 2.5 mm O-ring instead of the 18 X 3mm.  Sometimes the Honda spec o-ring is bit too big to get it to seat properly.

When replacing the neutral switch, put a coating of grease on the O ring and then put it in place up in the oil pan. (assuming you are working on the bike upright).

THEN slide the neutral switch in. It goes in easy with the Honda stock O ring and seals tight.

If you put the O ring on the switch and try to slide it in, it won't go and you might damage the O ring.
