Hi Bear,
this is the graph for your A engine, Mega 125-75, 10.3 comp ratio, .guessed valves etc but as you would expect runs out of air up the top end.  Its still very impressive.  Its nice to see the difference on the graph when comparing  the 63mm stroke to 69mm strke. just more everything, parrallel graphs with std stroke.

Well....I tried the two conrod lengths, unfortunately it showed no difference.

I kind of expected it as on car race stuff any gain cames from having a cam that takes advantage of the quicker accellrating piston.  I tried advancing the 125-75 but still no difference.

Your call Bear but I think it is a hypothetical thing with out lots of development required for miniscule gain.

Hope the graph is readable.......   Oh ! you were sniffing a hilborn system a while ago, did it come to anything ?     :-\   cheers mate   johno

Thanks mate. :D

Your right, I will stick with the 117.5mm rods.
The RC45 pistons we are using are a beautiful thing, but they have short skirts (ya gotta luv short skirts ;D ;D ;D) so I'll air on the side of caution.

Hey.......whats the story with the 10.3CR? It's not a moped mate. ;D ;D ;D

Cheers,
Brian

I was.
Seems like a pretty good unit too.
I just don't think it would provide the low speed throttle responce I'm looking for.
Just the shot for a "Salt Racer" though. ;D

Bear what is with the new Avatar?  8)  So now its confirmed you was a dirty man before you was a good bituman man.   I noticed its all a nice bright yellow, is that so all the other crazy blokes with no brakes  could miss you  ;D  then you realised you had to go bituman because it was too hard to clean after the meet.

I wonder if this pic of me was at the same track, notice no other bikes , I was last and the dust had settled,   ::)    bloody adrenilan rush , 3 quick laps and I was a mess physically and it never changed.

Sorry Don for not talking cams, just had a nostalgia rush seeing Bears avatar  ;)  ciao Johno

Looks like Renmark or one of those other car tracks down south.
We did 'em all. :D
Your showing pretty good form in that pic mate.
I don't think you would've been rounding them up at that pace.
Your right though, once I realized I didn't need to clean the bike and all the gear after every meeting I was hooked on the tare. ;D

Cheers,
Brian

:)  Still got those leathers and I took em into Waldon Millers about a month ago and asked them if they could put a 6 inch strip in both side seams so I could use them again. He just laughed and said " no offence sir but a foot strip wouldnt fix your problem "   :o   cheeky barstard ! ;D

I came across a dismantled 77F engine cheap. 12,000 miles. I decided to use the cam and springs on my home ported head.
The Kenny Harmon F grind hardweld will be saved for a 900 engine with aftermarket rods. Someday or someone, time will tell. Right now the race car wants all the money.

I have a similar story.
When I gave Tiger Angel the measurements for my new leathers a couple of years ago, I made a smart ass remark about having a cow big enough to make them.
The girl taking my order quipped that "no they didn't have one large enough but they would sew two together." :-[

Captain rehab Bear, hope your still doing your press ups ad sit ups  ;D   I bet the winters got you by the balls and youve got slack  ::)

Don you old plumber you, if you are just going to tidy it up and get a nice smooth stocky  happening , tidy the ports and blend the bowl, shim the springs a touch so they are all the same , maybe just advance the cam a smidgin 1 or 2 degrees,  good fun dialling in the cam, makes me feel like a techno head,  get out and enjoy before your winter smooths in .
Cheers Johno

Skim read the thread. I just built a Cycle X 970 and installed an ol Andrews
K grind----similar to and RC 315 cam. Boy does that cam rock at 7,000 through
10,000 + RPM's ----What a hoot. But I don't like the idle or the low mid range
for the street---it's doable but looking to try cycle x ---cx-3 the 270 lift 282
duration. Has same lift as K grind but 18 degrees less duration. Anyone try
that cam ?????????? Let me know how streetable it was----thanks probably
gonna order one tomorrow. So let me know real soon!!!

It's like a 63a, which is very streetable.  I use a 125-75, which is like the CX-7 - also very streetable.
Take care,
David

True, My gearheadedness began with my brother, it was either a wide open ride in a 53 buick, or on my birthday a trip to the local go cart track. Lots of trips to the drag strip. Then my 56 chevy, I used to take it to the Olds garage where he worked and tune it out back. All the mechanics would keep an eye on me. Then the stock car, and the motorcycles.  yep it's Bud's fault

Donny go go  ;D  captain chevy  ;D  soon to be captain Honda ;D
The drag car you have would be a hoot Don but use it for the winter project and get back to your youth by getting the Honda all fired up.

I was talking to sohc boy who sent me a couple of burnt cams for experimental grinding and we were remanissing about the old days, Pete was a very successfull drag racer in his day and we found we had the same favourite cam.

All these ramblings and I havent put my favourite cam on the thread !   So the following pic shows the cam cards of two cams, one  is of my all time awesome , sensational, breathless favourite cam.
Regrind cam for street, production racing . for standard springs , 750, 812  to 836 .  just worked on any combo I tried in any form of comp or street, I fitted about 15 of these cams in the 70's every single customer was happy, life was good in those days  Waggot master 50, specs per card, 20. 45. 45 .20with  .340 lift and .006 clearance both lobes

Compared to all the big hitter cams out of the US its a pussy cat spec but it just worked on anything and was the most fun cam Ive installed.

The all time biggest disaster for me was a regrind from the same company , specs per card,  50.80. 80.50 with .365 lift and tappets .004 &.006     That baby had me in over my head in deep sh*t  :-\

Im pretty sure Waggots did the regrind on my K0 cam when I was restoring it.  Are they near Kyogle in NSW somewhere?  My mechanic down there had all his machinework done by them at the time....
