hondanut, you're right.. I should have worded that differently. I was describing desmodronic, but I only meant that the 450 valvetrain bears more similarity to it than a typical rocker arm setup.

Every now and then you run into something like this

and it ends up sitting in the back of the shop until you put the front end on a 550,maybe the engine in a go cart or something,or just leave it in the back of the shop because it's too good to strip. I've been wrasseling with the what to do with this one? for a while. and feeling ashamed about it.

They are horrible to look at, ruins the lines of any machine, but I must say ,if you have a big assed lady on the back of a stock 550 seat, I've noticed each time I use the brake she slides up forward. Put one of these seats on she stays put and ya won't be riding with your nuts crushed into the fuel tank.

id love to see an old advert from a magazine or so for one of these behemoth seats!something like sohc but a double big arse?

years ago my older sisters boyfriend had a cb450 twin dohc,,he was the fonz.

  While I think the 350 is a cool engine and all, myself, I prefer the 450 DOHC and also would like to make a correction (I didn't see where this was done and forgive me if I overlooked it but), in the way the valves are adjusted, on the 450 (Well, at least you don't need rocker arms in a DOHC. On the other hand, you don't need to take the camshafts out to adjust the valves on the SOHC.). You see, you don't have to take out the cams, to adjust the valves on the 450, you just loosen a locknut and make your adjustments, during the procedure and adjust the screw for each valve. You don't even have to remove the valve covers.

it's not a great idea to adjust those valves on the fly, but it can be done.
