Topic: Shipping a Cylinder and Head

Hello all,

I'm preparing to send my head and cylinder off to MRieck for some work (pics to come, eventually!)
I'm wondering how you guys have shipped this stuff in the past - will I need a crate?  Or will ample bubble wrap and a large sturdy box suffice?
I have to admit, a box makes me nervous - this stuff is pretty heavy.

Thoughts?

I would use two boxes because of the weight.  Bubble wrap each piece and get boxes twice the size so you can surround it with packing material. Tape well.

BTW, what will he do to the cylinders?

Wrap cardboard around them them place that inside a box. Maybe some bubble wrap too.

Re cylinders - bore, bead and deck 'em.  $60 cheaper then my local guy charges for just the boring.

When i sent my stuff to Mike and when he sent my stuff back we used a sturdy box and ample styrofoam. Using extra cardboard inside the box would be a good idea and tape well. Mike is a killer guy you'll b pleased.

Check that, he used bubble wrap.

 I wood build a wooden box, only safe way.. and you can use it fourever..
 Got a real RC head a few months back, they ripped us on priority shipping..70 or 80 bux.. double wrapped cardboard, padded.. shoulda been OK except, it took WEEKS to arrive, and they dropped it, and broke/dented a pair of the intake spigots.. already ported thin ones.. fun times fixing them  (rooling eyes).
 Anyway after  former ebay experiences, I will tell you, pack it in wood, make sure it can handle a 3ft drop.. or you will probably be dissapointed.. having a box for heads and cylinders, just makes good sense when hauling the stuff around...jmo..
